Indigenous Peoples’ Day 2022

Today, October 10, 2022 is a federal holiday in the United States.  It is a holiday that celebrates the “so-called” discoverer of America - Christopher Columbus.  Columbus was an Italian who was determined to find a shortcut to Asia.  When he landed in America, he thought that he had arrived in Asia.  He called the inhabitants “Indians” most likely taken from a term found in one of his diary entries.

On October 7,2022, President Joe Biden proclaimed this day as Indigenous Peoples’ Day to honor and to recognize the individuals who were ALREADY here before Christopher Columbus ever stepped foot upon American soil.  Before any European settler ever claimed any land for any foreign country, the Most High God (our sovereign GOD) had ALREADY stationed people in each country.  Whether the people are referred to as Aborigines, Endemic, Indigenous, Natives, Native Americans, etc., we must recognize that prior to other nations placing their claims upon another inhabitants home, other people already occupied that territory!
