Shabbat - (Sabbath) the day of rest; For Sabbath keepers, it begins at sundown Friday and ends at sundown Saturday.

Preparation Day - the intense time before the Sabbath whereby everything that is needed is prepared so that no work is done on the Sabbath.

Halakha - A compilation of the written laws and oral traditions that devout Jews use to conduct their daily lives.

Pharisees - devout keepers of the Torah; they believed in strict adherence to both the written laws and the oral laws.
